To elect an officer of the strata committee, a strata committee meeting must be called in which committee members are nominated as officers and a ballot is held.

Regulation 11 in the Strata Schemes Management Regulation 2016 states that any member of the committee can nominate another member providing the nomination is given in writing to the individual convening the meeting with the name of both the individual being nominated and the individual making the nomination included. A strata committee meeting is then conducted. Motions are decided according to the majority number of votes with each committee member being entitled to one vote.
